Promulgating Viet Nam's National Adaptation Plan

Viet Nam's National Adaptation Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 identifies three key task groups and solutions. Accordingly, the plan outlines tasks and solutions to improve the effectiveness of climate change adaptation through strengthening the state management of climate change and promoting the integration of climate change adaptation into a strategic and planning system.

In addition, the mission and solutions focus on strengthening resilience, improving the adaptive capacity of the community, economic sectors and ecosystems through investments in adaptation actions, science and technology; raise awareness to be ready to adjust to climate change.

The plan outlines tasks and solutions to mitigate natural disaster risks, minimize damage, and to be ready to respond to natural disasters and extreme climates that increase due to climate change.

The plan is divided into 3 phases. In the period of 2021-2025, focusing on completing mechanisms and policies to adapt to climate change; prepare the legal basis and technical conditions to promote the integration of climate change content into policies, strategic systems and planning; implement tasks and solutions to prioritize climate change adaptation, raising the capacity to cope with natural disasters, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters and abnormal developments of climate and weather.

In the period of 2026-2030, to continue strengthening the state management of climate change, coordinate and integrate activities in implementing tasks and solutions to improve the capacity of industries, fields, economic development, community, ecosystem to enhance resilience, ready to adjust to climate change.

The period after 2030 until 2050 promote the results of the period 2021-2030, continue to strengthen human capacity to adapt to climate change, infrastructure, natural systems to protect and improve the quality of life; Ensure food security, energy security, water security, gender equality, social security, community health, protection of natural resources, national sustainable development in the context of climate change climate and safety before natural disasters.

The objective of this Plan is to minimize vulnerability and risk to the impacts of climate change through strengthening resilience, adaptive capacity of the community, economic sectors and Ecosystem; promote the integration of climate change adaptation into the strategy and planning system.
