ADB supports irrigation modernization for climate change adaptation

Recently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held an online conference to discuss and agree on capital allocation for sub-projects under the Project of Irrigation Modernization Adaptation to Climate Change with the participation of 6 locations, including: ADB Irrigation Expert Group, Central Management Board of Irrigation Projects (CPO) and representatives of provinces: Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai.
Based on suggestions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, 4 provinces of Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai and through the actual survey of the ADB team of experts, the Asian Development Bank is expected to allocate a capital of US 70 million to implement the project.
The counterpart funding from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and localities is 21 million USD respectively. In addition, the project also received US 5.6 million in aid from civil society organizations through ADB.
According to the agreement between the parties, the project will start to be implemented from January 2022 and end in December 2025, including 8 sub-projects with a scale of over 48,000 ha.
